Fossilcrete’s versatility can also be appreciated in art forms. Enjoy the beauty of Eartha a.k.a Mother Earth, a 9 ft tall Fossilcrete coated 3D sculpture participating in the 2009 ArtPrize Artist’s competition held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Eartha was created and designed by Rod Goodrich, an Artist and Model-Maker from Watervliet, MI.
The final concrete like surface was etched with citric acid and completed with water based stains. Sculpture is intended to withstand all whether conditions. The sculpted Fossilcrete surface is supported by a series of plywood cross sections affixed to a center axis and covered with expanded metal. Her arms have been re-enforced with 1 ½ inch steel tubing. She weighs approximately 800-900 lbs.
